Yield Energy Inc. & Finsterwalder Umwelttechnik GmbH Enter Partnership to Develop North America Biogas Industry

TORONTO, ON. April 15, 2010  – Yield Energy Inc. and Finsterwalder Umwelttechnik GmbH(Fitec) announce the signing of an agreement that grants Yield Energy the exclusive rights in North America to develop and sub-license biogas facilities based on the Fitec pre-processing and Anaerobic Digestion system. Through this agreement, Yield Energy will on its own and with partners design, build, and commission biogas plants that will convert contaminated organic waste streams such as municipal green bin waste, and expired grocery store waste into renewable energy.

“Green bin waste is highly contaminated with non-biodegradable fractions such as plastic bags, cutlery, dog & cat litter,” said Derek Riley, CEO of Yield Energy. “It is difficult to process contaminated organics at traditional composting and AD [Anaerobic Digestion] facilities. We are delighted to enter into this working relationship with Fitec. As shown in their facilities in Germany, Austria, U.K. and Luxembourg, this is a technology that can meet the needs in North America of turning contaminated organic wastes into energy.”

“We are very excited about our new partnership with Yield Energy and look forward to working closely with them in bringing our advanced bio-waste preprocessing & AD technology to North America” said Tobias Finsterwalder, Managing Director of Finsterwalder Umwelttechnik GmbH.

As organics are increasingly being banned from landfills across the continent, Yield Energy will provide locations for grocery stores, restaurants, and municipalities to economically convert their food wastes into renewable energy.

Over 70 million tons of food waste is generated each year in the United States and Canada. In a biogas facility that waste would generate enough electricity to power 2,800,000 homes annually, and reduce Greenhouse Gas emissions by 54,400,000 tonnes CO2 equivalent each year.

Finsterwalder Umwelttechnik GmbH & Co. is a German engineering company and service provider that specialize in the development of anaerobic digestion products and processes. Fitec has developed a water and energy efficient patented technology for contaminant removal from organic waste materials. With this technology, Fitec is the German leader in handling contaminated food waste and operating food waste anaerobic digesters.

Yield Energy Inc. is a North American biogas facility developer, owner, and operator focusing on the utilization of urban organic waste streams. Yield’s goal is to provide sustainable energy production to North America to help reduce its dependence on fossil fuel/nuclear energy generation for current and future energy needs.
